Lynk

  • Work Policy: Onsite (Falls Church, VA)
  • Company size: 50-75
  • Year Founded: 2017
  • Funding: $50M, Series A

What problem are they solving? Over 3 billion people per year own mobile phones but are disconnected for extended periods of time because only 10% of the Earth’s surface is connected by cell towers.  90% of the planet has “coverage black spots,” otherwise known as “0G”. Mobile coverage is limited by the economics of building and operating traditional ground-based cell towers, making it cost-prohibitive to expand into remote areas lacking coverage.

Lynk solves this problem by connecting standard mobile phones directly to satellites, otherwise known as “cell-towers-in-space”. Anyone who has a mobile phone already in their pocket will now stay connected everywhere using Lynk’s satellites. Lynk will connect billions everywhere with their existing phones, and connect the next 1 billion people who will buy their first mobile phone after they have affordable coverage where they live and work.

Lynk is the only patented, proven, and commercially licensed satellite-direct-to-standard-mobile-phone system (sat2phone) in the world.
